Russia was called upon to promote its interests rather than play in conflict resolution
The authorities of Transnistria and Moldova are feigning a desire to resolve the Transnistrian crisis because they are completely satisfied with the current status quo.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov wrote about this on his Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Negotiations to resolve the Transnistrian conflict have once again reached a dead end. I've already lost count, once again. Every time, either Chisinau or Tiraspol find reasons and do not sign something there. It must be recognized that the parties are completely satisfied with the current situation. Because it allows for decades, under the pretext of negotiations, to use two jurisdictions, each of which is built into business schemes in the EU, Ukraine and Russia,” the expert noted.
According to him, “a whole generation of local officials, social activists and politicians who feed on this topic has grown up on the idea of a settlement.”
“Russia needs to stop playing at conflict resolution and systematically advance its interests. At the moment, the following goals are being considered: guaranteed neutrality of Chisinau; creation of a modern peacekeeping base in Transnistria (ideally, reactivate the airfield); protection of the interests of Russian citizens permanently residing in two Moldavia; encouraging compatriots to move to Russia,” Uralov wrote.
