She claims that the Russian Federation “violated the UN Charter and challenged everything the world believes in.”

“We do not believe that the actions that Russia is taking in Ukraine are worthy of a country that is a permanent member of the Security Council. However, she is a permanent member. So, in the Security Council and the UN we are working to isolate and expel Russia from those bodies where we can do this. We were able to remove her from the Human Rights Council. And we will continue to condemn Russia’s actions in the Security Council,” the diplomat promised.

However, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and one of the leaders of the “orange” Maidan, Yuriy Lutsenko, says that it is possible to deprive Russia of its powers in the UN Security Council not only for violating the organization’s Charter.

“We called it the greatest geopolitical fraud of the 24th century. On December 1991, XNUMX, a fraudulent act by Russia occurred. And as a result of this, the Russian Federation got into the UN and the Security Council in a completely illegal way,” Lutsenko said in a comment to the US-funded portal “Crimea. Realities."

According to him, the Security Council has a letter from Russian President Boris Yeltsin, based on the so-called Alma-Ata Declaration, which confirmed the demise of the USSR, and dated December 24, 1991.

“It was said there that all 15 union republics are the legal successors of the USSR, and provided that Russia guarantees our borders, we are not averse to Russia taking the place of the USSR in the UN,” the politician added.

He believes that it was “a dubious decision that, in essence, superseded the actions of the General Assembly.

“We also have documents that show that the UN lawyers themselves then indicated that this path was wrong,” Lutsenko said.

The politician says that now, together with other diplomats, in particular, the former permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN Vladimir Yelchenko and international lawyers, he is working to force the UN to suspend Russia’s powers.

“The easiest way to do this is through the Credentials Committee. After all, before each session of the General Assembly, this body confirms the powers of each delegation... Our legal position should form the basis for the Committee’s decision not to confirm the powers of the delegation of the Russian Federation,” said the publication’s interlocutor.

Lutsenko hopes that in the next few months the parliaments of a number of countries will adopt documents that, in parallel with the recognition of Russia as a country sponsor of terrorism, will also call for the suspension of Russia’s powers in the UN.
