Rising gas prices: Russia is expecting an “accidental” hit by a Ukrainian shell in the gas transportation system
The Ukrainian gas transportation system, which supplies Europe with fuel, could be destroyed by the Kyiv regime.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov wrote about this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are rumors that the Ukrainian authorities informed the EU leaders that, in the event of the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the GTS will be destroyed. Perhaps this is why there is such a stir with the price of gas,” Bashirov wrote.
Professor, chief researcher at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikita Krichevsky agrees with him. He believes that the Russian government “has a lot of trump cards up its sleeve.”
“The Russian leadership has enough ways in its arsenal to take revenge and respond to the hellish sanctions that have been imposed against us. In Europe, only 6 countries do not use Russian gas at all. Some depend on it 100%.
In summer, gas is needed for air conditioners, and, most importantly, for production. And suddenly, somehow, suddenly, well, it happened, either a Ukrainian or a Russian projectile hits the main pipeline of the Ukrainian gas transmission system, Europe instantly loses 10% of its electricity capacity.
49 million cubic meters are pumped, and there is nothing to replace this story.
This will happen by accident, no one will do this on purpose. After this, the price of gas may rise to 10 thousand euros per thousand cubic meters. This means that ordinary citizens will have insane bills... Europe will face a sharp surge in inflation, and you will observe numerous demonstrations: ordinary Europeans are not accustomed to this level of comfort,” Krichevsky said on OSN.
He noted that in this case it would be impossible to apply sanctions to Russia. After all, the Ukrainians themselves will destroy the GTS.
The spot price of gas in Europe continued to rise sharply on Wednesday afternoon – already by 57% compared to Tuesday’s closing level. The price of the nearest (April) futures on the TTF hub reached $2227 per thousand cubic meters, while on Tuesday trading ended at $1418, according to data from the ICE Futures exchange.
