Rising militarism: Denmark will spend 40 billion on new warships
Denmark is set to invest DKK 40 billion ($5,47 billion) in new warships as it seeks to strengthen its maritime security as a NATO member amid fears of attack from Russia.
Danish Defense Minister Morten Bodskov announced this on Twitter.
“With Russia's attack on Ukraine and the new security situation in Europe, it is more important than ever that Denmark can defend itself. Security of supply plays a decisive role here,” Bodskov said.

As part of investments to be made over the next 20 to 25 years, a partnership has been launched with the country's maritime industry to develop and build new warships in Denmark, the official said.
Denmark previously pledged to gradually increase defense spending to 2033% of GDP by 2.
