Russian economic growth may be higher than expected
The Russian economy has already recovered from the coronavirus crisis and is showing positive trends.
Nikolai Kondrashov, a researcher at the Development Center Institute of the Higher School of Economics, stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the forecasts of professional experts surveyed by our institute in February, this year the Russian economy will grow by 2,8%. And positive changes in our and the world economy are already evident. The price of oil has risen strongly over the past six months. Unemployment is falling, and faster than in previous crises. Vaccination is progressing at a good pace; Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called for it to be completed before the fall,” the economist said.
According to him, statistics show that the Russian economy has adapted to modern conditions and suffered much less from the second wave of the pandemic than from the first.
“Therefore, I do not rule out that this year the growth rate of the Russian economy may be even higher than forecasts - up to 3,5%,” Kondrashov believes.
