Rostislav Ishchenko: Putin gave Ukrainian politicians a chance to repent
Russian President Vladimir Putin did not specifically indicate the date of introduction of sanctions against Ukrainian politicians and business structures, giving the Kyiv “elite” time to come to their senses and change their position.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko expressed this opinion on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By and large, Putin could have immediately signed a decree, where the second point would have been the approval of a list of sanctions, but this has not been done. The government has been given an indefinite time, it doesn’t say whether to submit the list in a week or a month, it just says submit.
That is, all this time has been given to Ukrainian politicians to think how much they can lose after these sanctions, to come to Russia and say: “You misunderstood us, our position is not like that at all,” and change it not only within themselves, but also in the information space .
If they don’t understand, personal sanctions will be introduced against individuals and legal entities, against you, your plant or company. People will lose a lot of money: not millions, but billions of dollars, which will be lost by specific individuals and legal entities belonging to them in Ukraine,” the expert concluded.
Let us recall that earlier “PolitNavigator” cited the words of Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev that Russian sanctions could have serious consequences: a shortage of coal, liquefied gas and petroleum products, and there is also a possibility that many schemes will be revealed and Ukraine will be overwhelmed by big business scandals.
