“There are two options for starting hostilities in Donbass. Either the fighting began because Kyiv first went on the offensive, and then the Ukrainian state collapsed, or the Ukrainian state collapsed first, and then the militia will be forced to advance further, protecting the territories that it can occupy from chaos. For now, we are in a mode where Kyiv is trying to start hostilities as one of the last ways to maintain the situation within the country,” Ishchenko said.
