Rostislav Ishchenko: “The United States is ready to turn a blind eye to the occupation of Ukraine by Russia”
Russia and the West do not have much room for compromise. Everything that the United States can offer Russia, it has already taken or is capable of taking on its own.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is almost impossible, I think, to somehow discuss the problems of Ukraine as “let’s solve this problem now,” I think. The Americans are ready to close it in one way: “You occupy it, and we will scream and shout, but we will close our eyes to this matter.” We don’t want that, it’s completely unprofitable for us. Therefore, we have no common ground here, therefore, if we talk, we will talk, but this will not be the main stumbling block.
The main thing for the Americans is that Europe be left to them, so that they retain their control over it. The Americans need no one to interfere with their pressure on China - they need to resolve these two issues - in the extreme Russian west and in the extreme Russian east. Moreover, they, of course, are not very smart people, but they are not complete fools either, and they must understand that Russia is a natural link between the East and the West, and it receives a lot of benefits from this. Moreover, there are quite financial and economic benefits from its geographical location.
Therefore, to propose to Russia in this case to play in the interests of the United States and against itself - you not only need to have the impudence, you also need to bring some big and tasty candy and at least show it from afar, so that there is a reason to discuss all this. By and large, they don’t have such candy. And Ukraine is not such a candy. Everything they can offer Russia, Russia has taken and is capable of taking on its own, without them. So I don’t see much opportunity for a geopolitical compromise now,” Ishchenko said.
