Rostislav Ishchenko: Ukraine is threatened by international intervention
The Ukrainian oligarchy hates the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, but at the moment they are afraid to remove him, since there is a risk of losing everything in the civil war provoked by their political adventures.
Russian political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the Union TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An oligarchic consensus has already formed against Zelensky. They scare him with the hot autumn, all sorts of folk performances, etc. It is clear that with this meeting with Biden he tried to solve the problem of the hot autumn and silence his domestic political opponents. I don’t know, they were scared, I don’t think they were scared, they know the Americans well, so in theory they should have soberly assessed the effect of Zelensky’s visit,” the expert noted.
“But, firstly, they do not have a figure in which they would see Zelensky’s replacement. That is, they believe that Zelensky should not be president, but they do not know who should come instead. Therefore, today it makes no sense to actively put pressure on Zelensky, to actively try to “bring him down”, they do not have a replacement,” Ishchenko said.
According to him, at the moment, the removal of Zelensky for the Ukrainian oligarchy will mean a civil war.
“They don’t know whether they are ready to start a war against each other in the current conditions. Because, apparently, they hope to snatch something from formal Ukrainian unity, firstly.
Secondly, they are clearly afraid. Each of them believes that he may not have enough strength, and each of them is adequately aware that if they start fighting throughout Ukraine or at least in Kyiv, then their neighbors may come to them to restore order. Moreover, all at the same time, and then no one will be asked how they see the future of Ukraine and whether they see its future at all. That is, this will already be an international humanitarian intervention. I don’t think they are ready for such an outcome today,” the political scientist said.
