The department's website reports this.
“According to information from the Bank of Russia, as of May 20, 2014, in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, you can receive cash using VISA and MASTERCard payment cards at 56 ATMs and 10 cash distribution points of credit institutions.
Measures are being taken to commission ATMs that ensure transactions with payment cards of the “Universal Electronic Card” payment system,” the statement says.
At the same time, Rostourism admits that in order to ensure the full functioning of the infrastructure in the KFO for carrying out transactions using payment cards, it will take quite a long time:
“In this regard, we inform tourists planning to vacation in the territory of the Crimean Federal District during the summer season of 2014 about the advisability of having the necessary amounts of cash to pay for goods, work and services, taking into account the possible difficulties associated with using for these purposes payment cards,” the department advises.
Rostourism “strongly recommends” that tour operators and travel agents selling tours to Crimea inform tourists about the situation with payment cards.
