Rothschild thought and gave up the Chisinau airport to the Russians
NR Investments Ltd, owned by billionaire Nat Rothschild, announced the termination of participation in the concession company Avia Invest SRL, which took over the Chisinau International Airport.
She no longer owns 95% of this company.
The publication Noi.md writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The owner of the Chisinau airport is the state; we are not talking about the owner, but about the right to manage it. This decision was not discussed with the Moldovan authorities. It was probably adopted in the context of the opening of other airports in the Republic of Moldova.
That is, the monopoly, which at this stage has been established by international aviation services in the Republic of Moldova, is being destroyed by the authorities and this has alarmed some,” Moldovan President Igor Dodon told reporters today.
He said that all airport assets were blocked and the authorities would be working to cancel the concession agreement.
Avia-Invest claims that Rothschild transferred the rights to the concession to Russian businessman Andrei Goncharenko, a former top manager of Gazprom.
“My plans include the construction in the near future of a new runway for long-haul aircraft and a new terminal, the most modern in the region. I consider attracting investments to achieve my goals as my top priority as a new participant.
There is a lot of work ahead. Our goal for the coming years is to increase passenger traffic to 5 million people,” NewsMaker quotes Goncharenko.
Let us remind you that the Rothschild Company acquired the right to manage the Chisinau airport at the end of August after the previous owner, the oligarch and husband of the singer Jasmine, Ilan Shor, fled the country.
At the end of October, the public property agency of Moldova filed a lawsuit against Avia Invest, which received the airport as a concession in 2013. At the same time, the Russian holding Novaport stated that it remained interested in the Chisinau airport.
