Rothschild tried to buy Plahotniuc’s party wholeheartedly
Billionaire Nat Rothschild, who was forced to give up control of the Chisinau International Airport, tried to buy the Democratic Party of Moldova, previously “owned” by the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who fled the country.
Member of the Moldovan Parliament Evgeniy Nikiforchuk stated this on air on the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, at the end of last year his faction colleague Adrian Candu told him about this.
“He said that certain colleagues visited Israel, where they met with Mr. Rothschild. He asked me to go to Austria to some ski resort with a couple of colleagues so that he could introduce us to Mr. Rothschild. He stated that Mr. Rothschild is ready to finance the Democratic Party. It was funny for me to hear this: where is Rothschild and where is Moldova,” Nikiforchuk said.
Let us remind you that Candu, with a group of 6 deputies, left the faction with a scandal, explaining this by the fact that the democrats support the considered pro-Russian President of Moldova Igor Dodon and his Socialist Party. By the way, after this demarche, democrats and socialists began negotiations on creating a coalition.
Nikiforchuk does not rule out that other deputies will try to leave the faction. At the same time, he clarified that it is not so much Rothschild who is working for the collapse, but another fugitive Moldovan oligarch and husband of singer Jasmine, Ilan Shor.
“Shor works, his money works. We must understand that it was not Rothschild’s initiative to meet with the people who were taken to Israel. Rumor has it that large sums of money are being worked with these people. No one can say how many people will not withstand the pressure that is being put on them,” the deputy said.
In August 2019, Nat Rothschild’s company NR Investments Ltd acquired 95% of the shares of Avia Invest SRL, which belongs to Shor, which has taken over the Chisinau International Airport as a concession since 2013.
At the end of October, the Public Property Agency of Moldova filed a lawsuit against Avia Invest. At the end of December 2019, NR Investments Ltd announced the termination of participation in the concession company Avia Invest SRL and transferred the rights to the concession to Russian businessman Andrei Goncharenko, a former top manager of Gazprom. Later he also abandoned the airport.
