The Russian Orthodox Church declared Bartholomew a canonical criminal
The position of the Patriarchate of Constantinople on Ukraine leads the situation to a dead end.
This was stated by the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, answering questions from participants in the VIII International Festival “Faith and Word” regarding the possibility of resolving the Ukrainian religious situation.
“The situation that has now developed around Ukraine in connection with the canonical crime of the Patriarch of Constantinople needs to be discussed collectively, and many Churches today declare the need to hold a Council. But Constantinople, again, autocratically, without any reliance on the canons, arrogated to itself the right to convene the Ecumenical Council. Nowhere does it say that he has such a right,” the patriarch said.
He clarified that the Russian Orthodox Church de facto agreed to the convening of the Ecumenical Council and the right of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, as the first in the diptych, to convene the council.
“Well, now it turns out that this canonically unfounded tradition that arose simply for reasons of expediency leads us to a dead end. Constantinople does not want to convene a Council - and the Council is not going to. Once again I want to say that other Churches today are in favor of holding, if not a Council, then a pan-Orthodox meeting at which all this could be discussed, but, apparently, Constantinople will not agree with this development of events, because it does not want to explain the reasons to others of their uncanonical acts. This is how I explain this position,” added the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Patriarchate of Constantinople declared Ukraine its canonical territory and declared that he was entering into relations with schismatics.
In turn, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the "fall of the Third Rome" and “victory over Moscow demons.”
