Ruban and Savchenko refuse to give evidence to the SBU
People's Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko and the head of the Center for the Release of Prisoners Vladimir Ruban, who are suspected of preparing terrorist attacks and overthrowing state power in Ukraine, refuse to testify to the investigation, using their procedural rights, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine on the agency’s Facebook page.
“Currently, the defendants in the case, using their procedural rights, refuse to testify to the investigation.
Now, among other things, the investigation has appointed and is conducting thirteen expert studies of weapons, ammunition, explosives, video and audio materials, speeches and public appeals, including a commission forensic psychological examination to verify the veracity of Nadezhda Savchenko’s testimony,” the statement says.
In addition, the SBU notes, witnesses have been interrogated, documents and items seized at the place of residence and work of Ruban and Savchenko are being reviewed and analyzed, and the involvement of other persons in the crimes of which they are suspected is being verified.
“The preliminary investigation authorities and the prosecutor’s office, taking into account the complexity of criminal proceedings, the volume and specificity of procedural actions in it, as well as the behavior of participants in criminal proceedings, plan to complete the preliminary investigation in a reasonable short time,” the statement said.
