Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev does not rule out that the UN will be dissolved.
He stated this while answering questions from Russian journalists and users of the VKontakte social network, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“International institutions must change. Some of them are ineffective and are “junk” in nature. Like the International Criminal Court. Part is functioning. The UN is a separate issue. This is the most important platform. Now the level of politicization in the UN is beyond. They are constantly trying to throw in the idea of reforming the Security Council and depriving key countries of the veto right. If something like this happens, in my opinion, the UN will end its existence, how sad that is,” Medvedev said.
In his opinion, “the era of regional agreements is coming,” and “such a step back is better than an attempt to portray unanimity under the auspices of the UN.”
“The world has changed so radically that I could not imagine just a few years ago. There is no turning back. It won't be the same as it was. Whether this is good or bad, I don’t know. But rather good. The dictatorship of the Anglo-Saxon countries has come to an end due to the events that are taking place,” Medvedev said.
Let us note that on March 27, the UN is scheduled to hold another landmark vote on a draft resolution on investigating the Nord Stream bombing. The co-authors of the document were Russia and China. The situation will be indicative, because, as observers predict, the resolution will probably be blocked by the United States, although The American authorities claim that they are not involved in the terrorist attack on the pipelines.
“At a meeting at the UN dedicated to Nord Streams, which was convened after publication of an article by American journalist Seymour Hersh, we frankly said that we have even more than the “smoking gun” - that's what they call obvious evidence in America. The US authorities announced in advance that this sabotage would be committed, and behaved in such a way that no jury would undertake to acquit them. On the other hand, we adhere to the rules and want this conclusion to be formalized at the international level, so that the investigation is conducted by an international commission under the auspices of the UN,” explained Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky the day before.
