About it the formal owner and top manager of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, Andrey Podshchipkov, wrote in his appeal on the channel’s website.

“The authorities may open several more far-fetched criminal cases and try to threaten and intimidate the channel’s employees. These few days after the discovery of the “case and permission to search” showed that our employees did not flinch. Instead of being “frightened,” the channel received offers of help or work on the channel from more than 35 journalists,” he wrote.

Podshchipkov recalled the biased warnings of the National Council in 2015, with which “the authorities have already proven their bias towards the 112 Ukraine TV channel.” “The decision of the National Council to revoke digital broadcasting licenses on September 3 and initiate criminal cases against the TV channel on September 2 indicates the last stage of this “discontent,” he notes.

At the same time, the owner of the channel sees several reasons for the government’s pressure on the media.

“Firstly, the editors of the TV channel do not accept any “advice” or “recommendations” on the news format... naturally, this irritates the authorities, who are forced to watch and listen to the truth that is inconvenient for themselves. Secondly, there is a certain rating stimulus. The president has his own channel, which as a businessman he considered an asset and valued dearly. “112 Ukraine” with its new format and objective presentation of news is several times higher than the rating of “5th”, devaluing it,” notes Podshchipkov.

Let us remind you that channel “112” in Ukraine is associated with “formers” - that is, people from the team of ex-president Yanukovych. According to some information, former Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaly Zakharchenko may be behind the channel.

Let us also recall that, due to problems with the authorities, the channel has seriously “bowed in” to the authorities several times over the past two years, significantly adjusting its editorial policy. The channel also quickly disowned its former employee Ruslan Kotsaba after he was accused of treason and imprisoned.
