The Ukrainian leadership hopes for Kozak’s Ukrainian roots
In Ukraine, it is not ruled out that the former curator of the Kremlin’s Ukrainian direction, Vladislav Surkov, will not completely retire, despite his resignation.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Danilov stated this in an interview with the LigaBusinessInform Internet portal, answering the question of what the announced resignation of Surkov and his replacement with Dmitry Kozak will change for Ukraine.
“Kozak is a person with Ukrainian roots. There are a lot of them out there... But we don’t yet know where Surkov will be used, whether he retired completely, Vladimir Putin sent him to retirement meditation - or whether he will use him in some other things. After all, Surkov dealt not only with issues related to Ukraine,” said the Ukrainian official.
Speaking about Kozak’s “Ukrainian roots,” Danilov apparently meant that he was born in the village of Gaivoron, Kirovograd region.
It is noteworthy that in Kyiv, opinions regarding the replacement of Surkov with Kozak were divided. Some hope that Kozak will promote the return of the LDPR into Ukraine.
Others they fear that Kozak will “divide and rule over Ukraine.”
