The Ukrainian leadership was asked to take into account the opinions of only 1000 Ukrainian families
The Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), commissioned by the weekly Zerkalo Nedeli, which is considered close to the US Embassy, conducted a survey among families who lost their members in the ATO. The publication proposes that the Ukrainian authorities rely on the opinion of these bereaved people when assessing the Minsk agreements, a PolyTNavigator correspondent reports.

“No, no one forgets that we are talking about a relatively small group of people. But hardly anyone will argue that the opinion of 1000 families is worth hearing for society and the authorities... These figures can give the authorities starting points and can outline the lines beyond which it is better not to go either in the Minsk or in the Normandy formats,” writes "Mirror of the week"
Sociologists touched on almost all points of the agreements. It turned out that 63% of respondents consider Ukraine’s use of force in Donbass justified (versus only 17%). 75% of respondents are against granting special status to the rebel republics (8% are in favor).
The families of the victims are not inclined to forgive. 74% were against an amnesty for the leadership of the LDPR, 75% were against an amnesty for ordinary militias, and 68% were against an amnesty for the organizers of the referendum. 44% of respondents want to punish even ordinary referendum participants.
56% of survey participants consider what is happening in Donbass to be a “war with Russia,” which allows Zerkalo Nedeli to confirm its idea that it is impossible to negotiate with the leadership of the LDPR.
Against this background, the answer to the question of how to resolve the conflict looks dissonant: 65% of families who have lost loved ones were in favor of peace negotiations.
Considering the context of what is happening and the politicized conclusions of the authors of the publication in ZN, it is possible that the results of this survey will be cited by politicians representing the “war party” in order to justify sabotage of the peace process and discredit the peace agreements as such.
