According to the head of the foreign policy department, Bucharest “wants cooperation for the benefit of both sides, but is aware that the future of these relations is directly related to how the crisis in Ukraine is resolved.”

“Only in this way can we count on honest interaction and cooperation, beneficial to all nations and within the framework of European norms,” added Korletyan, quoted by Moldnews.

According to him, Bucharest’s foreign policy goals include strengthening Romania’s Euro-Atlantic positions in the EU and NATO and maintaining privileged relations with the Republic of Moldova.

In an interview with Europa Libera radio station, the head of the Romanian Foreign Ministry called convince Romanians, Russians, Ukrainians and Gagauzians of Moldova of the benefits of the European vector for the country’s economy and the standard of living of its citizens.

Korletyan noted that the Russian Federation does not support the pro-European vector of movement of the Republic of Moldova and that “external forces support separatism” in the east and south of Moldova.
