“We would like the source of instability in Ukraine not to come close to the borders of the Republic of Moldova. We want there to be peace and harmony in the Republic of Moldova, so that free and fair elections will take place,” he said.
The diplomat noted that Romania will continue to disinterestedly help the Republic of Moldova if Moldova wants this, while the Romanian government does not make any distinctions between Moldovan citizens based on ethnicity or language of communication. The ambassador also stated that he considers those who call themselves Moldovans to be Romanians, because these peoples have “one religion, one language and a common culture.”
Lazurca expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral Moldovan-Romanian relations. “We are getting closer and closer and understanding each other better and better. The young generation of Moldova comes to Romania to study or on vacation, as if it were their home,” the diplomat said.
Speaking about the upcoming elections to the Moldovan parliament, Lazurca noted that there will be “a confrontation between the proposals of pro-European and anti-European parties, which will present citizens with a different model of integration.”
The diplomat expressed hope that the election results will meet the expectations of citizens, IPN reports.
