This was stated by Romanian President Traian Basescu at a meeting of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, local media reported.
“There is an escalation in the transfer of military equipment, including heavy weapons, from Russia to the separatists. There is an escalation in the participation of specialists in the management of military equipment and some officers from Russia, who manage the operations of the separatists in Ukraine in favor of the separatists,” said the head of the Romanian state.
Basescu also stressed that he “supports the sending of military equipment in order not to make the Ukrainian army cannon fodder.”
“Romania supports tightening sanctions against the Russian Federation. Romania believes that Russia is responsible for instability in Ukraine by supporting the separatists,” the Romanian leader also noted.
As Navigator reported, yesterday Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the country would receive military-technical assistance from the EU.
