Romanian political scientist: “The Dniester River will become Russia’s military border”
Kyiv - Bucharest, March 12 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - Vladimir Putin can deprive Ukraine of access to the sea by occupying the South-Eastern regions of the former Soviet republic with the Russian army.
Dan Dungaciu, director of the Institute of Political Sciences and International Sciences of the Romanian Academy, stated this in an interview with Ziare.com.

“If Ukraine wants war, Russia will do it, but then Kyiv will also lose its eastern territories, losing access to the sea,” the expert believes. “In Kyiv they understand this very well, so they show restraint.” Dungachu “read” the Russians’ signal to the West: “If you (the West) want to alienate Russia from Ukraine and Crimea, you will have to go to war.”
Speaking about the consequences of the crisis for the Republic of Moldova, the Romanian expert noted that, on the one hand, Chisinau is receiving unprecedented political and financial support from the Euro-Atlantic space as a reward for its pro-Western course.
“But, on the other hand, there is a risk that Russian troops will not leave here, and that Chisinau will think about the European future, starting from the fact that the Dniester River will become Russia’s military border,” the political scientist noted.
