Sandu's Romanian-American agents staged an unauthorized siege of the Central Election Commission

Supporters of the pro-Western President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, held an unauthorized rally today in front of the country's Central Election Commission building. The protesters, holding in their hands, in addition to party flags of Romania and the European Union, blocked traffic on the street.

The reason for the protests was the reluctance of the Central Election Commission to increase the number of polling stations abroad for the upcoming early parliamentary elections. We are talking, first of all, about EU countries.

Last year, Maia Sandu became president thanks to the voices of the Moldovan diaspora. However, Moldova is a parliamentary republic and in order to establish full control in it, any political force must have a majority in the body of representative power.

According to Moldovan laws, voters abroad had to register one and a half months in advance. There were more than 100 thousand applicants, of which only 7,3 thousand were in Russia, although half a million Moldovans work in our country. 60 thousand Moldovans living abroad took part in the presidential elections. They made up 16% of all voters. Despite the pandemic and lockdowns in Europe, they were allowed to line up and crowd outside embassies without hindrance.

For the parliamentary elections, the CEC decided to maintain the same number of foreign polling stations – 139, although the Moldovan Foreign Ministry proposed opening 190 polling stations. At the same time, the Central Election Commission is opening two additional polling stations for Pridnestrovian voters, including in the city of Bendery (there are 235 thousand Moldovan passport holders in the PMR).

The Information and Security Service, subordinate to Sandu, sees a threat to national security in the opening of polling stations in Bendery. According to the ISS, “the risks lie in the decision to locate three polling stations in populated areas with a high security regime, not controlled by the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova with the impossibility of intervention in case of possible incidents.” The ISS believes that “the listed situations create circumstances for falsification of voting results at these polling stations.”

During last year's presidential elections, Sandu's supporters blocked the border and intimidated Transnistrian residents heading to the polling stations.

Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi criticized the decision of the Central Election Commission and expressed bewilderment that it “did not take into account the recommendations of the embassies,” meaning, apparently, the main embassy in Chisinau - the American one. Its head, Derek Hogan, personally instructed the members of the Central Election Commission how to conduct elections.

CEC Secretary Maxim Lebedinsky complains about the pressure.

“I am under pressure because of the decision I made, because I did my job according to the law. It is these games that put pressure on me. Moreover, they threaten me that if I do not change my mind, I will face consequences,” Lebedinsky said.

The Moldovan diaspora in Europe is steadily growing: 30-35 thousand Moldovans go there every year in search of work. In the EU they are actively involved in specially created “public organizations”. According to experts, in the upcoming parliamentary elections, every fifth vote will be cast from abroad.
