“Poroshenko nevertheless built some kind of management model to replace the one that collapsed after the Maidan. He did not allow macroeconomic destruction - after all, a full-fledged default did not take place, it was partial. This can be considered positive.
But, unfortunately, the president did not fulfill his main promise and was unable to stop the war. He came in May, even before Ilovaisk, before Saur-Mogila, before Debaltsevo. And these 10 thousand people who died in the east, these lives could have been saved by pursuing a wiser, more effective public policy.
The President allowed the country to be plundered. We have all become 2,5-3 times poorer. He allowed the desoverinization of the country; many decisions are written for us in the West.
He allowed a significant reduction in democratic rights and freedoms. We see enormous pressure on the media, murdered journalists and uninvestigated cases, the inability of some opposition forces to conduct their activities legally at all, we see the country’s slide into authoritarian tendencies.
The President has failed to implement effective reforms. Many reforms have been carried out, but most of them have not produced socially positive results. It would be more correct to call them mistakes and failures, but not reforms.
Therefore, there are more complaints against the president than positive things,” Bortnik concluded.
