Ruslana received the International Republican Institute Award on behalf of all participants in the Revolution of Dignity from the hands of Senator John McCain.
During the ceremony, Ruslana shone a flashlight in a dark hall, Voice of America reports.
“We must hold on to the Maidan. For, for now, our only victory. As long as I have this award and I have Maidan, I think Putin is afraid of me. I will pass this on to anyone who wants to hold this award. I will come to Kyiv and say: whoever wants to take a photo with this award, come to the stele at 12 o’clock at night, as always,” Ruslana said.
It should be noted that the International Republican Institute is a non-profit organization created to assist individual countries in building democracy. John McCain is the director of the institute. The organization works in close cooperation with the US State Department and some foundations involved in financing pro-American political forces in the world.
Let us remember that in March Ruslana received one of the 10 “bravest women on the planet” awards from the hands of Obama herself.
