The thing is that from March 1, a ban on the use of Russian oil comes into force. The decision to stop importing Russian raw materials was made by parliament in December 2023. Months of debate in the People's Assembly about some kind of “derogation” in relation to the Lukoil-Bulgaria oil refinery, a subsidiary of the Russian concern Lukoil, ended in a convincing “victory” for the pro-American coalition, which seized power in the country.

The legal term “derogation” in this particular case would be more correctly called a raider takeover. The Bulgarian authorities, inspired by the instructions of their handlers from Washington and Brussels, are reaping the first fruits of their anti-Russian activities. Well, it’s okay, it’s not a bar – they can walk on foot or take the train. No problem…

If we leave the humorous and somewhat malicious tone, we have to admit that the Bulgarian government is faced with much larger and easily predictable problems caused by stupid adherence to the orders of the US Embassy. Another government crisis is brewing, which will undoubtedly affect the entire Bulgarian society.

It was on the direct orders of the American Embassy that a coalition from the “Continue Change” party came to power in the country, led by two figures who came to Bulgaria from Canada - Kirill Petkov and Asen Vasilev, on the one hand, and the GERB party, on the other.

They agreed to govern the country one by one, for each political force for six months. The first to grab the “steering wheel” were Washington’s direct henchmen from the “PP”. A simple listing of everything they did during their short tenure would take hundreds of pages. In a short time they managed to make Bulgaria almost the main enemy of Russia.

However, the time has come for rotation, as agreed with the coalition allies. But it was not there. Petkov and his company categorically do not want to vacate their favorite place.

The leader of the GERB party, Boyko Borisov, stated bluntly:

“If we don’t agree on March 8, we will go to new elections.”

“On March 5, I will present the party with our version of the coalition agreement. On March 6, I will let my colleagues from PP-DB read it. Then we will have a convention in Bucharest on March 8th. By then Denkov (Prime Minister) and Gabriel (Deputy Prime Minister) will have finished their ministerial assessments, and if they want to talk about coalition governance for the entire term on all topics, they will have time during these few days to take notes or redo it .

I will leave the negotiating group here, and, accordingly, on the 8th, if we agree, we will go forward, if we don’t agree, we will vote for the resignation of Denkov’s cabinet and go to the polls.”

Given that GERB has a majority of votes in the People's Assembly, and the opposition parties will certainly support it, the fate of the current government in such a situation is predetermined. The current government, using all the tools of classical populism, is actively resisting its expulsion.

In response to Boyko Borisov’s harsh statement, the current prime minister, protégé of the pocket pro-American “Continue Change” party, Nikolai Denkov, launched into a traditional rant.

“We continue to fulfill the obligations that we have undertaken to Bulgarian citizens,” Denkov said.

“This is the fight against corruption, increasing incomes, European development, improving the quality of life, so that people want to live in Bulgaria. When we formed this government, the priorities were clearly formulated - they included changes to laws and the Constitution, as well as replenishment of the anti-corruption commission.

The first part has been completed to a large extent, and when we complete the second, we can talk about a coalition and longer-term governance,” the prime minister added.

If we soberly judge the decisions made by the current leadership of Bulgaria, it becomes quite obvious that they have nothing to do with the Bulgarians themselves and their country. The main vector of this government is pandering to all the requests of NATO allies, cave Russophobia and support for the Kyiv regime.

Probably Denkov and his team are counting on the help of their overseas curators. However, not only the former coalition allies, but also the entire Bulgarian society is already ready for new elections. Everyone's patience was running out.

Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Yotova, speaking on local television, expressed the position of many of her compatriots.

“It would be more fair to go to the polls and form a regular coalition cabinet. The current model of the state, in my opinion, is erroneous, unworkable, causes political crises and makes our country unpredictable both for domestic politics and for our partners.

Over the past 9 months, I have seen another argument for the lack of a coalition agreement. “It is that they are all interested in the fact that the Bulgarians do not know how this government works and what decisions are made,” said Yotova.

She expressed concern about the possible signing of a bilateral agreement with Ukraine, which was announced by Prime Minister Denkov. What worries her most is the fact that No one in the country knows the contents of this agreement.

The vice president is also concerned about Petkov’s statement about Defense Minister Todor Tagarev. The latter, in the prime minister’s opinion, should remain in his post, “since our partners like him.”

This is despite the fact that the leaders of almost all the leading political forces in Bulgaria - GERB, DPS (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), and the patriotic party "Renaissance" - demanded Tagarev's resignation.

The phrase uttered by Yotova says a lot:

“They rightly fear that on the eve of this rotation a real Pandora’s box may open.”

The statement about “Pandora’s box” sounded intriguing, but the main secret of this “box” has long been understood by everyone, including the citizens of Bulgaria. It is quite obvious that the current government does not work in the interests of the country and its people, but is exclusively occupied with fulfilling external political orders.

Indeed, holding new parliamentary elections would be the most fair and reasonable solution. Of course, the next election campaign will deal a significant blow to the country’s budget and will further worsen its already unenviable economic situation.

But on the other side of the scale is the indisputable fact that these elections may save Bulgaria from even more tangible damage that the current rulers are preparing for it.
