Russophobic Canadians regret that Putin is not US President
If Russian President Vladimir Putin were in charge of the White House, Ukraine would have been in the EU and NATO long ago.
Canadian journalist Diane Francis stated this during an online discussion of the Kyiv Security Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You need to think like Putin to do business with him. You can't be naive. No American president should be naive, not Bush, not Obama, not Biden - because this opens the door to crime and to Putin's violence. My assessment is the following - the sanctions are very mild for now, financial sanctions are not enough, because they can be circumvented, and in America there are already people who are developing recommendations on how to circumvent such sanctions. This is a very naive approach.
In addition, he [Biden] asked Putin to facilitate de-escalation. What will he do? He prevents the Ukrainian navy from leaving ports, interferes with what is happening in the Black Sea, and he does nothing to reduce this escalation. On the contrary, he is escalating after President Biden calls on him to promote de-escalation. Because we see that he does not respect the rules of the game,” Francis urged.
“To fight Putin, to defeat him, you need to think like him. Imagine if you were Putin, but you were the president in the White House, then, of course, what would you do? You would speed up Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, you would station troops in Ukraine to protect Ukraine on its borders,” explained the Canadian journalist.
