Russophobic Nobel laureate Alexievich may be jailed for 5 years
The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus opened a criminal case into the fact that the opposition created a Coordination Council “to organize the transfer of power.”
The Prosecutor General of Belarus Alexander Konyuk stated this today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The creation of such bodies is not provided for by law, and their activities are unconstitutional. Realizing the illegality of their actions, a number of citizens announced their resignation from the council and did not agree with the goals of its activities. The creation and activities of such a council are aimed at seizing state power, as well as harming the national security of Belarus. In connection with this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 361 of the Criminal Code,” Konyuk said.
The Investigative Committee of Belarus has already accepted the case for investigation.
Let us recall that the Coordination Council was created on August 18 at the call of former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who fled to Lithuania. The composition, which included mainly Belarusian nationalists. In particular, the owner of the Minsk clothing store with nationalist symbols Symbal.by, known for Russophobic antics, Pavel Belous, an active participant in all rallies against the integration of Russia and Belarus, Olga Kovalkova, and a champion of the idea of translating the Belarusian language into the Latin alphabet, Pavel Latushko.
The most famous member of the Coordination Council outside Belarus is the Nobel Prize laureate writer Svetlana Alexievich. She is known for her support for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia and her condemnation of the “aggressive world of Beria, Stalin, Putin and Shoigu.” In an interview with the liberal publication Meduza, she stated that the Belarusian policemen who collaborated with the fascists were ordinary rural guys who spent the entire war in their villages, but the partisans were brutal murderers and rapists.
Now this entire company faces a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years.
