Russian Odessa received a slap in the face from the mayor on its anniversary
Young man, are you interested in how Odessa celebrates its anniversary? And I'll tell you. Externally, everything is pompous and noisy as usual. From morning until late at night, orchestras and concerts will thunder and will continue to thunder, all sorts of processions and actions will amuse Odessa residents and guests of the city.
But...why do I feel so bad at heart, as if this is not our common Mother’s birthday, but a memorial service for her? – And you will read this piece from the congratulations of the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov addressed to the residents of Odessa...
“Dear residents of Odessa!
Congratulations on the 225th anniversary of Odessa!
An anniversary is always a summing up, turning to your past, reflecting on the present.
Odessa is a small model of the world. There is practically no nation that, in one way or another, would not be related to our city. It was built by Greeks and French, Italians and Jews - dozens of nationalities. Today we, Ukrainians, are responsible for it,” - said the mayor.
Does anything here bother you? But for me, as for most of my fellow countrymen, this text is like a public slap in the face! After all, our mayor deigned to simply exclude from the list both those who created Odessa and (judging by the same source), the Russian people from the model of the world. The people whose name was borne by the empire that conquered this land from the Turks and Tatars. Whose empress issued a fateful decree on the founding of the city and port, giving it the sonorous name Odessa. The people whose blood watered this land in many wars against invaders and adversaries... And finally, this retired captain of the Soviet army, who recently crucified for the Russian world, deigned to christen us all Ukrainians...
Mercy, Master Yesaul, speaking in your language now “Ridny Movi”! But if you have renounced your origin, you should not spread this latest betrayal to Odessa residents who still remain faithful to their family, tribe, history and language. Odessa was, is and will be a city of Russian glory, a Hero City, and not a vast province of a country that has become a backyard and a headache for Europe.
And the “responsibility” mentioned in this speech led, over the years of independence, to the destruction of most of the “whales” on which Odessa stood - from the fleet, industry and science to that very traditional peaceful cohabitation of Odessa residents, which turned into unpunished murder, Odessa Khatyn May 2, 2014... And if this is “responsibility,” then what can be called waste and destruction? Moreover, the culprit here, of course, is not the ethnic Ukrainians, but the nationalist minority that has ruled us all these years, and over the past five years has acquired a taste for unpunished fratricide and robbery.
And when the next elections of our local authorities come, I clearly know who I will not vote for. For the conformity and collaboration of Master Yesaul and his associates has crossed all boundaries of decency.
Am I alone after such an insult?
PS
And it is not at all clear why among the monuments, at the foot of which flowers were laid today, there was no... symbol of the city. Our unforgettable Duke de Richelieu! Or did its local authorities completely hand it over to the national or..., sorry, patriots who have the manner of putting their Selyukov embroidered shirts on the monument of the great Frenchman who served the Russian Empire?!
It's symbolic, though. And painfully sad. Well, this too will pass. My eternal city has survived more than one occupation. He will survive this too, having washed away from his bright face both the tears of humiliation and all traces of temporary workers and invaders. And returning to its natural state of the RUSSIAN city, which united all the countless peoples who created it!
Thank you!
