Russian threat: Poroshenko promises a fake Ukrainian Navy base on the border with Crimea
A Ukrainian Navy base urgently needs to be created in the city of Genichesk, Kherson region, on the border with Crimea, which before the revolution was part of the peninsula, and where pro-Russian sentiments still prevail.
The fake “presidential representative in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” Boris Babin made such a proposal on the radio “Krym.realii”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We insistently ask that Genichesk be made a base city for the naval guard and the Ukrainian Navy. In the context of the escalation of the conflict in Azov, this is of key importance,” said the permanent representative.
His idea was criticized by Kherson social activist Gennady Sivak, who said that this was nothing more than an attempt at money laundering.
“This is a fake statement, because the port in Genichesk is not working. Only some small vessels can enter there - and even then, in certain weather, if the east wind blows, it gives water, and you can enter. The port water area has not been cleaned for a long time, since all cleaning products have long been sold. The railway to the port has been dismantled, meaning it is impossible to deliver anything there. This has nothing in common with defense, except for the opportunity to cut up more funds,” Sivak said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
