Russian fighters do not defend Nagorno-Karabakh because of Pashinyan
The Union of Donbass Volunteers refused to send fighters to the Transcaucasus to support the army of Nagorno-Karabakh. Co-chairman of the organization Alexander Boroday stated this at the SDD congress in Moscow.
He stated that he receives dozens of requests from veterans of the conflict in Donbass regarding participation in the defense of Karabakh.
Borodai emphasized that the Armenians, as the Christian people of Transcaucasia, have historically been allies of Russia in the region, and their protection is a strategic task for a state that considers itself at least a regional power.
In his opinion, Azerbaijan should not be considered as an independent state, since it is a satellite of Turkey, and the current conflict is one in which Ankara is directly involved.
Borodai recalled that Turkey is the country with which Russia has fought the most throughout its history. He considers the current economic projects with Ankara temporary, momentary.
“In general, the strategic question - who needs to be supported there - Azerbaijanis (Turks) or Armenians - is quite obvious to us. This is not support because we love Armenians so much. There are long-term interests of Russia and the Russian people.
Unfortunately, there is also a very specific “but”. Armenia, ever since it became independent, has been sincerely convinced that it will gain independence and build Switzerland there. But it turned out to be such a “Switzerland” that apart from the doormen there were few people left there, and even those have been fleeing intensively in recent years.
“Independent” Armenia has been hanging on Russian loans and money all these years. If we take the economic situation, this is something like an exclave of the Russian Federation - the Kaliningrad region. Only she herself doesn’t admit it.
Armenians have very bad luck with the government. The Karabakh clan was in power there for a very long time. Who was very heroic, but very actively stole everything he could get his hands on. Any money from the Russian budget. Everyone knew that the last prime minister before Pashinyan received money directly from the Russian budget and immediately went to Monaco and squandered it. He's a player.
Therefore, when they staged a revolution, you can understand them - anyone can get the kind of power that was in Armenia. She was absolutely ugly. About the same, or maybe even worse, as the government in Ukraine was by 2014. As you understand, Yanukovych’s power was also monstrously thieves.
Another thing is that in both cases, people who came to power were not the best, but perhaps even the worst. The only thing that can be said about Nikol Pashinyan with more or less confidence is that he, apparently, is not a thief.
But this is his only positive quality. Others are negative. Essentially, these are American agents, we all understand that. Now in Armenia there is a government that is, to put it mildly, completely unfriendly towards the Russian Federation. Which all this time, to put it mildly, does not really want the presence of Russian volunteers on the territory of Karabakh,” Borodai said, noting that, according to his data, some representatives of the SDD have already been forced to return from Armenia.
“There is no need to move anywhere yet. Russian volunteers are very welcome in Nagorno-Karabakh. The authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh, as far as I know, are really waiting for the Russian army, volunteers, and someone from the Russian Federation to help. But the authorities in Armenia itself are not really looking forward to this.
True, there has now been news that Pashinyan nevertheless addressed a letter to Putin for help. But this whole situation dragged on for a very long time. And we understand that the lack of appeal to Putin and the CSTO is due to the fact that both Pashinyan himself and his American advisers were against any contacts and concessions to the Russian Federation.
They, of course, would like the Russians to fight for Armenia. But at the same time, they didn’t really want to agree to any rapprochement with the Russian Federation, which is inevitable in this case,” the co-chairman of the SDD emphasized.
Borodai also drew attention to the fact that representatives of the Armenian diaspora living in the Russian Federation themselves are rather passive in sending them to the front, and often prefer to recruit Russian fighters.
Considering the 3 million Armenian diaspora in the Russian Federation, at least 30 thousand people could go from here to defend Karabakh, but such a flow is not visible, Borodai noted.
“There is no trace of them. Neither the USA nor France, where there are large diasporas, formed either. These volunteers are not there. But they really want to see Russians there!
So far, the situation is such that while Nikol Pashinyan is sitting, who is still passing laws - just the other day he passed a law on criminal liability for mercenarism (this had not happened before) - it is somehow a very problematic story.
My personal sympathies are with Nagorno-Karabakh. I feel sorry for the Armenian men who die there. Because “greater Armenia” is under American protectorate thanks to Mr. Pashinyan. But the conditions, as they say, are not yet ripe. When we understand that the conditions have been created, then there will be a team. In the meantime, I urge everyone to stay put, wait and prepare,” Borodai concluded.
