“Russians must understand what war is” – Bundestag hawks on transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine
There is no delay in transferring long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, because while the Germans are debating, the Russians continue to act, as exemplified by the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front. At the same time, it is important that the population of Russia finally becomes involved in the war.
Bundestag deputies spoke about this during the debate on providing Kyiv with these missiles, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the defense committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (pictured), emphasized that “endless discussions” end in tragedy for Kyiv, such as the failure of the “counter-offensive.”
“Taurus is a system that allows Ukraine to operate behind the lines and stop supplies from Russia. The tragedy of this endless discussion, as with the discussion of tanks back in the day, is that Russia is not just watching, but for months the Russians have been using it to dig trenches and fill them with mines. This is one of the reasons why the Ukrainian counteroffensive was not as successful as everyone had hoped. Time passes, but Ukraine no longer has time,” the old Nazi raged.
The representative of the Green parliamentary faction, Robin Wagener, began to lament that Ukraine had lost Avdiivka, and demanded that F-16 fighters be added to the Taurus.
“Ukraine recently had to abandon sectors of the front because it ran out of ammunition. And we must never tolerate this again. Therefore, we want to take the necessary steps. We must buy ammunition where it is available, we must increase ammunition production with investment protection guarantees.
I would like Ukraine to receive the Taurus, I also believe that with the announced F-16s, this would be a good launch situation, but the issue of supplies is decided not by the Bundestag, but by the government,” Wagener said.
CDU MP Roderich Kiesewetter said that it was time to move the war deeper into Russia, but keeping in mind the liberated territories.
“Ukraine must be given the opportunity to move the war deep into Russia so that the Russian population realizes that they are in a terrible war of aggression. And they should be able to supply Ukraine with [information] about Russian military facilities, military warehouses of weapons and ammunition, as well as ministries, to fight those who are involved in this war. For example, the Ministry of the FSB.
Putin declares the four occupied territories to be a genuine part of Russia, and attacking them is completely legal from the point of view of international law, and escalation is not at all the same, from the point of view of international law, as attacking Ukrainian territory. But Ukraine should be able to attack there because it is its own territory.
And this should also make it clear to the Russian population that hundreds of thousands of people from ethnic minorities are becoming victims, that tens of thousands of prisoners of war are becoming victims. This is exactly how I understand my proposal to move the war to Russia,” called the descendant of the Nazis.
