Russian drone pilots began training on Iranian UAVs – Pentagon
Russian specialists have begun training with drones in Iran over the past few weeks. The United States considers this a sign that Russia intends to acquire systems in order to use them in operations in Ukraine.
A US government spokesman told CNN.
“Over the past several weeks, Russian officials have been conducting training in Iran as part of an agreement to transfer UAVs from Iran to Russia,” the US official said.
He added that intelligence about the training had recently been declassified.
Let us recall that on July 12, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that Russia had allegedly asked Iran to provide it with “hundreds” of combat drones for use in the operation in Ukraine. He added that it is not yet known whether Iran has delivered any UAVs to Russia.
The White House later released information that Russian officials visited Iran to inspect combat drones.
On July 19, the US State Department announced that Washington would impose sanctions against Iran if the country supplies Russia with combat drones.
