“The Russians will go to Mariupol and Slavyansk” - Portnikov
If Ukraine refuses to agree to the implementation of the Minsk agreements, Russia will begin to force Kyiv to peace.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kraina magazine by Kiev propagandist Vitaly Portnikov.
“If Ukraine insists on its interests, the negotiations will end. A tough military operation will begin, which the Russians call peace enforcement. They will go to Mariupol and Slavyansk. Or the Russian Federation will block gas transit to Europe. Like, let the West put pressure on Kyiv,” Portnikov said.
According to him, the war in Donbass will last for many more years.
“The current generation of Ukrainians is doomed to live in a paramilitary, hybrid confrontation with Moscow. And the Russians will be captive of their imperial ambitions for at least several more decades,” the propagandist believes.
He also answers negatively to the question whether Ukraine can get rid of the Minsk agreements.
“No, they are the only opportunity to support sanctions against Russia and put pressure on it. But every year the situation for us will get worse. In 2020, gas transit through our territory will stop and we will become free for Russian troops to attack in any direction. Europe is getting tired of sanctions. One or two governments can block them,” Portnikov believes.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv hoping to hold out for a few weeks in the event of a real Russian offensive.
