Simferopol, November 08 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – With their attitude towards Crimeans, Sevastopol residents resemble a St. Petersburg homeless person who relieves himself in the elevator and reprimands a visiting Muscovite for smoking there.

The weekly magazine “First Crimean” writes about this.

“According to some Sevastopol residents, the history of Crimea begins in 1783 and not earlier. And the heroes of Crimea bore exclusively Russian surnames, and, as a rule, admiral ranks - in their opinion, there are no other heroes in Crimea. Again, the phrase “there is no land beyond Balaklava” is slightly alarming, because I saw with my own eyes that it is there!” notes the author of the publication, who returned to Crimea “after a very long absence.”

According to him, for a long time he could not understand what was the matter, until a story happened to him in Sevastopol.

“I was walking down the street, and in front of me a matron and her child, about four or five years old, were puffing. Before her eyes, a man threw a piece of paper on the sidewalk, and then it began... “Son, do you see your uncle? This guy is not from Sevastopol, real Sevastopol residents don’t act like that, they throw garbage into the trash can. And this is immediately obvious - he is not from Sevastopol. But real Sevastopol residents don’t act like that...” - and so on for the same 15 minutes that I followed them. And the piece of paper remained lying on the sidewalk.

At first, I didn’t even understand why this offended me, well, all the other Crimeans were automatically classified as second class. Then it dawned on me and I wanted to tell that citizen: “If you want to set a good example for your son, then pick up this unfortunate piece of paper, throw it in the trash can and say - this is what the people of Sevastopol do, son!” And there is no need to say anything about how they do not act,” writes the author of the 1K publication.

Let us recall that statements about the “special Sevastopol character”, often voiced during the years of the Ukrainian occupation of Crimea, the weakness and helplessness of the scattered Russian movement on the peninsula, became the subject of jokes among neighbors in Simferopol.

The division of Crimea and Sevastopol occurred after the defeat of the Crimean statehood by the regime of Leonid Kuchma in 1995 with the obvious goal of weakening the rebellious Russian peninsula. Before this, the city was part of the first Republic of Crimea. After the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, its division was preserved along with the state status of the Ukrainian language.
