Russians sit in workshops and buy drones from assembly lines. We cannot compete - Lutsenko
Over the course of a year, Russia has caught up and surpassed Ukraine by multiples in terms of the number of different drones.
The former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal journalist-foreign agent Yulia Latynina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What Putin has done is to deploy huge assembly capacities, which today have given him an advantage in UAVs. If earlier, I remember when I went to Bakhmut in November last year, we had an advantage in the air of about 10 to 1 in both “scouts” and “strikers”, but then around the spring of this year the score was equal, and Now, I think, their aircraft are about 5 to 1 to ours, and their rate of deliveries is increasing,” he said.
“No matter how much Ukraine buys foreign drones, it will not be able to do it effectively, if only because these drones come from China and the Russians are already sitting right in the workshops. They buy directly from the conveyor belts. And this advantage of the Russians over us in May of this year happened not because they began to collect in Russia (they were not collecting then), but because they simply have more money and closer relations with China.
They bought them en masse and by that time they had already caught up and surpassed us. And then Putin opened assembly plants that began to assemble various modified products on a Chinese basis. The second stage did not happen for us - we cannot compete with Putin with money,” Lutsenko said.
