Russian forces are pushing back the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the last Ukrainian-controlled city in the Luhansk region
Gauleiter of the remnants of the Ukrainian-controlled Lugansk region, Sergei Gaidai, said that Russian troops were storming Lisichansk from the southern and southwestern directions.
Now, according to him, fighting continues between Volcheyarovka and the Lisichansk oil refinery.
“The invaders are storming Lisichansk from the southern and southwestern directions. Currently, fighting continues between Volchoyarka and the oil refinery. They are trying to block the city from this side and take over transport links with the Donetsk region,” he noted.
According to him, as a result of the fighting, three pumping stations were damaged, one of which is located in neighboring Novodruzhesk. Two bridges and a road tunnel that connected two separate parts of the city were destroyed.
“There was a lot of damage to high-rise buildings and private estates during the day on June 27. Certain areas of the city were shelled several times. Whenever possible, houses are examined for the presence of victims,” Gaidai added.
Gaidai also stated that it has been impossible to deliver cargo to Lisichansk, which is under threat of encirclement, for several days.
Note that Lisichansk remains the last major city within the former Luhansk region still controlled by Ukraine. After his release, the LPR will return to its declared borders.
