Russians will buy Ukraine through Cyprus
If the Ukrainian land market is opened to foreigners, even a legislative ban on the sale of land to citizens of the Russian Federation will not be able to fully guarantee Ukraine that the Russians will not get to Ukrainian lands.
This was discussed during the round table “Sale of land to foreigners – short-sightedness or high treason?” Ukrainian political scientist Igor Reiterovich said, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This idea, which is now being discussed in the context of selling land to foreigners, has a vulnerable point: foreigners are different, right? And we can get a situation like in one Baltic country, when 80 percent of all the land was bought up by the Russians.
That is, how can we be protected from this? This is only if it is stated directly in the law that we sell land to everyone except representatives of the Russian Federation. But they can still enter through Cyprus or through some Virgin Islands, or other countries, and they will turn not just into a group of economic pressure, they will turn into a group of political pressure,” said the Ukrainian expert.
