Russian tourists do not want to give up Turkey
The escalation of the situation in Syria associated with the invasion of the Turkish army and the deterioration of Russian-Turkish relations did not critically affect the desire of Russians to vacation in Turkey.
The executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Lomidze, Turkey remains the most popular holiday destination among Russians. At the same time, the market froze in anticipation of the results of negotiations between the presidents of Turkey and Russia, which are to take place today.
“Since we see a decrease in demand in all directions without exception, it is impossible to attribute the decrease in demand for Turkey solely to the geopolitical situation. Of course, this factor also probably has a certain influence, but, I repeat, demand is declining in all places. As for Turkey, despite this decrease in demand, in total travel agency sales, Turkey is still the number one destination at the moment.
Even taking into account the decline in dynamics by 30-40 percent. In Turkey, unlike other countries where there are not so many requests from tourists, with Turkey we clearly see that people are waiting. That is, people ask the question: “How will events develop? We are ready to book, but we need clarity." I think that clarity will come literally within today or tomorrow, and in at least one direction we will see growing dynamics,” Lomidze said
