The “Russian Bloc” asks the FSB and the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation to take up Basov’s case
The Sevastopol public organization “Russian Bloc” released a statement in support of its leader Gennady Basov, who the day before was sentenced to 9 years in prison on charges of corruption. The authors of the statement believe that “Basov’s case is fabricated and has an ordered nature.”

“For five months we have been closely following the trial in the criminal case of G.A. Basov. and conducted audio and video recordings of all trials, which are posted on Youtube and social networks in our groups.
We have not a shadow of a doubt that Basov’s case is fabricated and ordered. The sentence handed down to the leader of the Russian Bloc is striking in its absurdity and cynicism.
Today, the media and we have informed people quite widely about the details of what is happening. Therefore, our statement will be brief.
We ask the FSB and the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation to consider our appeal as a statement of a crime,” the Russian Bloc said in a statement.
The authors of the appeal believe that the testimony of witnesses in the court verdict against Basov was changed; the politician himself was found guilty “based on the testimony of one interested person”; the verdict includes “non-existent audio and video materials allegedly confirming Basov’s guilt,” etc.
“This verdict may indicate mutual responsibility among some individuals working in the justice system and at the same time actively participating in the redistribution of spheres of influence and business in the city.
We also appeal to the media with a request to continue to objectively cover this criminal case. By doing this you will help restore the honorable name of a person who fought for twenty years to return Crimea and Sevastopol home. By providing impartial and honest information, you contribute to the triumph of justice,” states the Russian Bloc.
