“Russian bloc”: Reconstruction of Sevastopol airport turns into corruption schemes
Sevastopol, June 30 (Navigator, Viktor Orlov) - The reconstruction of the Sevastopol Belbek airport is turning into corruption schemes - contracts for work are awarded to non-local companies without any competition. The public is not familiar with the projects and the amount of funds allocated - officials are doing everything to avoid control.
Legislative Assembly deputy Gennady Basov, leader of the Russian Bloc party, told Navigator about this.

“Apparently, corruption schemes have begun again in the troubled waters of the transition period.
The government has announced plans to open Belbek after reconstruction to receive civilian flights. However, as the deputy governor explained to me, the utility company in charge of the airport was reassigned to some structure in Rostov. There, without competition, “their” companies were recruited, which will do the work - without involving Sevastopol residents.
Everything is happening in the dark, contrary to the interests of Sevastopol. But the Belbek airport and its entire territory belong to the city. Sevastopol residents should know how, who uses it and why.
The public should know about the planned work and the amount of funding in order to control costs and eliminate theft. But in the current situation, everything is being done as opaquely as possible. Apparently, there are shadow schemes according to which at this stage the necessary structures were determined without competition,” Basov said.
He believes that Governor Sergei Menyailo is responsible for this state of affairs. Moreover, the situation around the reconstruction of Belbek is indicative, the deputy believes.
“This is one of many examples of how the government deprives Sevastopol residents of access to information and ignores the interests of local residents. Thus, the most favorable conditions are created for the next “cut” of funds that come to Sevastopol,” explains Gennady Basov.
