“Russian Bloc” announces new inconsistencies in the case of Gennady Basov
New inconsistencies in the prosecution's version were announced by the defense of the leader of the Russian Bloc, Gennady Basov, who has been behind bars for about a year on charges of taking a bribe. The politician’s associates claim that he became a victim of a “set-up” by the “cemetery mafia,” because after the Russian Spring he began to eliminate corruption schemes in the Sevastopol burial market, formed back in Ukrainian times.
The defense claims that Basov’s entire accusation is based on the testimony of his former subordinate Larisa Koroleva, who appears in the case as an intermediary in the transfer of a bribe from one of the businessmen working in the funeral services market.

“There is no other evidence of his guilt other than her words, and therefore everything possible is being done to ensure that her testimony remains unchanged, and at the same time she could avoid a real sentence or any other consequences. It can be assumed with a high degree of probability that she received such guarantees,” the Russian Bloc says.
At the trial, Basov’s defense challenged the prosecutor of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol, Gogolev, noting that the law enforcement officer insisted on an overly lenient punishment for Koroleva.
“Her act, if such a thing took place, should be punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years, but for some reason the prosecutor proposed as a punishment for Koroleva only a fine of two million rubles (which is a penny for the cemetery mafia) and deprivation of the right to occupy leadership positions.” position for three years (which is also ridiculous, since she is retiring). A reasonable question arises: what is the reason for such humanity of the prosecutor’s office, and why is this being done? Is it not in order to formally condemn the Queen, and present the court’s decision as evidence of Basov’s guilt?” – they are not excluded from the “Russian Bloc”.
In addition, the authors of the statement indicate that the trial revealed numerous violations committed by businessmen while working at the cemetery. However, law enforcement officers ignore these facts.
Based on this, at the court hearing, Basov’s defense challenged the prosecutor, since they admitted that he might be personally interested in a guilty verdict. Previously, he knew Basov, came to Basov and negotiated the appointment to the position of deputy politician of an entrepreneur - director of the Necropolis company, who may be receiving patronage, said defense lawyer Pavel Volkov.
“I believe that, firstly, before Basov’s arrest, prosecutor Gogolev and Basov knew each other. I know about this. I also know that prosecutor Gogolev came to Basov when Basov was carrying out his activities and asked him to employ his entrepreneur friend, which Basov refused him. Naturally, either Basov or Gogolev can confirm this. And I believe that the participation of prosecutor Gogolev in this process will harm the establishment of the truth and will be revenge on Basov,” said defense attorney Volkov.
When asked by the judge to comment on this information from the defense, the law enforcement officer stated that he did not remember the details of what was being discussed.
The “Russian Bloc” declares that it will continue to fight for the release of its leader.
