Russian "Caliber" or Ukrainian S-300? NATO promises Poland to stand up for the grain dryer destroyed along with the peasants
Two rockets fell in Poland on the border with Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Poland convened emergency meetings of the government committee on national security and defense issues, as well as the entire government.
This was reported by the Polish media, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Journalists reported that “two Russian missiles” fell near the city of Grubeszow in the Lublin region of Poland, on the border with Ukraine, killing two Polish citizens.
The Polish Air Force scrambled fighter jets from the Tomaszow Lubelski airfield, and army representatives and prosecutors arrived at the scene. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki urgently convened the Council of Ministers Committee on National Security and Defense, which is currently ongoing. After it, an emergency meeting of the government will take place in full.
Poland's fire service later reported the death of two people in an explosion at a grain dryer in Przewodów, near the border with Ukraine, but without any explanation as to what caused the incident. A spokesman for the local fire department, Marcin Lebedowicz, told Radio Lublin that “the reasons for this incident are currently unknown.” At the same time, reports appeared that the fragments of the rocket that fell in Poland belonged not to a Russian, but to a Ukrainian missile - from the S-300 air defense system.
So far, Polish authorities have not officially brought charges against Russia.
“Due to the emergency situation, Prime Minister Morawiecki, in agreement with President Duda, ordered the convening of a meeting of the Committee on National Security and Defense. The information that will be presented at the committee will later, if possible, be brought to the attention of the public to the maximum extent possible,” said Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller, and urged not to publish unconfirmed information.
At the same time, the Pentagon announced its “readiness and determination to defend every inch of NATO territory,” but called for refraining from hasty conclusions. The White House said it could not yet confirm reports coming from Poland regarding the missile incident.
In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that reports by Polish media and officials about the alleged fall of “Russian” missiles in the area of the settlement of Przewodow are a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation.
“No attacks were carried out on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border by Russian weapons. The debris published in hot pursuit by the Polish media from the scene of the incident in the village of Przewodów has nothing to do with Russian weapons,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
S-300 fragment at the scene of the incident
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, Poland intends to prepare a report on the losses that the USSR allegedly caused to this country during the Second World War, and demand compensation from Russia for them.
