The Russian world came from Ukraine, which abandoned it - Karasev
Ukraine cannot unite with Russia due to geopolitical reasons, but the Russian World, which is talked about in Russia, began with it.
Political scientist, director of the Institute of Global Strategies Vadim Karasev said this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our political systems are different. Economies can be linked through trade. And if we talk about complete identity, then this is impossible for geopolitical reasons. And for what?
As Peskov said, “Ukraine is the Russian world.” And I will say that the Russian world is Ukraine. When we say “Ukraine is the Russian world,” it means that Ukraine is part of the larger Russian world. When we say that the Russian world is Ukraine, it means that Ukraine is larger than the Russian world. And this means that the Russian world started from Ukraine. Galicians were called Rusyns.
If you look at the Russian world from the position of Ukrainian-centrism, and this is how you need to look at the Russian world - from the position of Ukrainian-centrism, then you need to understand that Ukraine is more than the territory of present-day Ukraine. Look at the Non-Black Earth Region, what toponymy is there – the city of Vladimir, Yaroslavl,” says Karasev.
The difference between Ukraine and Russia is Ukraine’s European choice. Russia, according to the political scientist, has chosen the Eurasian path.
“Why in 1991, 90% of people (except Crimeans, 56%) voted for independence? Because the main thing was not only that we would switch to the Ukrainian language. We believed and still believe, we must believe, that Ukraine will be a successful, democratic, European country. Our unity is not so much in language, but in the fact that we are a large, democratic, free country that has chosen its European future.
They chose a different path - Eurasian, Eurasian values, closer to China, to the models of a political system that goes east,” Karasev said.
