Russians are being deprived of their indigenous status not only by Zelensky, but also by their allies in the EAEU
Russia itself must determine which territories are indigenous to its people, and not scold Ukraine for adopting anti-Russian laws.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov wrote about this in his Telegram channel, reports PoltiNavigator correspondent.
“If we dig deeper, we will see that Russians are not considered an indigenous people in any CIS country. Even among the closest allies, where the Russian language has state or official status, the Russian people are, at best, recognized as an “emigrant people” - as, for example, in Kazakhstan according to the formulation of the “Assembly of Peoples”. In Belarus, Russians also do not have any status.
Therefore, blaming neighbors and allies is completely pointless until Russia itself decides which territories can be considered indigenous to the Russian people, despite political correctness and special relations with local bosses. Until Russia determines itself, there is no point in blaming the Zelenskys. As you know, saving drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves,” Uralov wrote.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law “On Indigenous Peoples”, according to which such status is assigned only to the Ukrainian people, Crimean Tatars, Karaites and Krymchaks.
