Ryaboshapka became the de facto head of the Rada - expert
Came into force on January 1 law on the lifting of parliamentary immunity, which actually allows Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka to put pressure on Ukrainian parliamentarians and force them to make the decisions he needs.
Ukrainian political strategist Yuri Podorozhny stated this on the NASH TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is very important that the Prosecutor General today is turning into the head of the Verkhovna Rada. Because it is his position, his desires that will determine how people’s deputies will vote.
Because each of them will know that in any case, he can be held accountable for some crime, fictitious or real,” the expert concludes.
In his opinion, Vladimir Zelensky and his team will now make real shows out of the trials of deputies.
“And there is no question that the show will continue. Look, the latest high-profile show from the Ukrainian authorities is the arrests in the Sheremet case.
And the president arrived, and the head of the SBU came, all this was broadcast, shown, people were accused live, almost called criminals, on some charges.
But the question is not whether they are guilty or not. Is this a normal procedure for legal practice? I think not. Therefore, today we can confidently say that in the near future we will see such shows in the Verkhovna Rada,” concluded Podorozhny.
