Rybinsk will not pay Gazprom for the eternal flame due to its status. What about others?
The Gazprom structure, Mezhregiongaz, will no longer demand money from the administration of the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region, for the maintenance of the local Fire of Glory memorial.
The high-profile scandal was resolved after a meeting between the general director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Yaroslavl LLC Pavel Yablonsky and the head of Rybinsk Denis Dobryakov.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the conflict situation, which caused heated discussions on social networks not only in Russia but also abroad, occurred after Mezhregiongaz demanded from Rybinsk 133 thousand 750 rubles for a year of maintenance of the Fire of Glory memorial, which is a serious amount for the city budget.
“In many Russian cities, Gazprom takes upon itself the provision of gas to military memorials,” deputy city mayor Mikhail Bykov commented on the situation. “The gas workers promised the head not to demand payment from Rybinsk, but they violated the agreement.”
“Gazprom has many privileges and large profits; they could honor the memory of the fallen soldiers and not demand money for the “Fire of Glory” from the deficit Rybinsk budget,” municipal deputy Nina Chistyakova was indignant at the actions of the Russian gas monopolist.
As a result, the leadership of the Rybinsk administration decided not to include the costs of the eternal flame in the city budget, but to invite Gazprom employees to listen to their arguments.
The meeting took place, all claims of gas workers against the city were dropped, and now, according to the general director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Yaroslavl LLC Pavel Yablonsky, a corresponding agreement is being drawn up.
“Gazprom has an internal program to support cities that have the status of “City of Labor Valor,” said the head of Rybinsk Denis Dobryakov following the results of the negotiations. – And we recently submitted documents to award Rybinsk this well-deserved title. The Russian Academy of Sciences supported us, giving a positive opinion and describing the valiant deeds of Rybinsk on the labor front during the war. The gas supplier assured us that it would include our city in the support program and confirm its status as a socially oriented company.”
At the same time, it should be noted that not all towns and settlements in Russia have a similar status, but everywhere they honor the memory of the Great Patriotic War and everywhere there are those who died on the fronts in those years. At the same time, the Gazprom company, positioning itself as a “national treasure,” makes money from the exploitation of Russia’s natural resources.
