About it said the Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larisa Polyakova.
“These will be history books,” she emphasized. “I’m not talking about ‘the history of Ukraine’, ‘the history of Russia’, ‘the history of Donbass’, but history textbooks.” Answering a clarifying question about when DPR schoolchildren will begin to study history using new textbooks, Polyakova added that “of course, this will be from the new school year.”
The minister pointed out that the Ukrainian world history textbook was too politicized, it was characterized by one-sidedness and a focus on nationalization. “We want to get away from this,” continued the head of the Ministry of Education and Science. “Our textbook will be objective, written by historians.”
According to the minister, the draft layout of the textbook is already ready. “The program is structured as follows: a course in world history is taught, and the history of the native land is integrated into it - what happened in Donbass at the time being studied,” said the minister.
At the same time, as Polyakova pointed out, depending on the curriculum at schools and universities, students can study the history of their native land as part of a separate discipline. “Our children should know the history and geography of their native Donbass. This is the education of patriotism,” the minister concluded.
