Statements by Ukrainian propaganda about allegedly taking control of the so-called “gray zone” on the demarcation line in Donbass do not correspond to reality.
LPR plenipotentiary representative in the contact group Rodion Miroshnik told Izvestia about this, according to whom, Ukrainian statements are aimed exclusively at listeners and readers of Ukraine, who are sorely lacking victories.
“Ukraine lacks achievements, and especially Poroshenko in the run-up to the elections. Since 2015, the positions of the DPR and LPR have not moved a meter. The “gray zone” is an interpositional space that is constantly under fire. Ukraine has been regularly using this move for the last year: it sends troops into populated areas where no one has lived for a long time, reports its capture, puts it on its maps and leaves,” noted the Lugansk politician.
He clarified that the “gray zone” is considered a territory in which, over time, after the complete disengagement of forces and assets, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission should conduct patrols.
It was also noted that tension on the contact line remains, but the risk of escalation on sections of the DPR and LPR borders is somewhat different.
“There is a slight difference. The positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Mariupol to Gorlovka, Avdiivka and Donetsk are much closer and there are no natural serious obstacles there. We have the Seversky Donets River, which divides a significant part of the contact line. Nevertheless, tension remains near Kirovsk, Pervomaisk and Bryanka,” Miroshnik clarified.
We would like to remind you that previously Advisor to the President of Ukraine and Assistant Minister of Defense Yuri Biryukov saidthat “practically the entire “gray zone” has been liberated and taken under control.”
This statement caused surprise in the DPR, where Biryukova declared the leader of the “rating of liars.”
