From June 23, it will become even more difficult for Ukrainians to obtain a Schengen visa - only by fingerprints
From June 23, in Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries, the Schengen countries are introducing a visa information system. According to the new rules, Ukrainians who want to obtain a Schengen visa must personally appear with documents at a consular office or visa application acceptance point and provide their biometric data - fingerprints.

According to the changes, the procedure for accepting documents will become somewhat longer - submitting fingerprints of all ten fingers will take a little time. At the same time, all other procedures, the very principle of drawing up documents remain unchanged.
Children under 12 years of age, persons who are physically unable to be fingerprinted, and heads of state and members of national governments (including members of their official delegations and their husbands/wives) if traveling on an official visit are exempt from the obligation to be fingerprinted. .
The Consul General noted that at present, since the system is just being implemented, fingerprints will be taken every time when submitting documents for a Schengen visa.
“The principle of presenting a person at the consulate is now becoming impossible. Consequently, the new rules especially apply to travel agencies that organize group tourist trips. The role of the travel agency as an intermediary, with the introduction of biometric visas, ends; now each participant in such a group is forced to personally come with documents and give fingerprints,” noted Yaroslav Drozd.
“We have decided that until June 19 inclusive, you can still submit documents according to the old rules. On June 22, Polish consular offices will not accept visa applications for Schengen visas, and from June 23, a new system with the provision of biometric data will begin to operate,” concluded the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv.
